Jubilee Leadership response to Coronavirus crisis
The extremity of the measures introduced by the government on Monday 16 March indicates the seriousness of the Covid 19 virus. We believe it is correct, right and biblical to support the government in its strategy to limit the impact of the virus spread across the nation.
God is still on His throne. God is still in control and His heart is towards His creation. We are not to give in to fear from the enemy of the unknown or the ‘what if’. But we choose to follow the government measures to align ourselves with a sensible strategy that can save lives and seek to limit overload of the healthcare system.

How does this affect the way we meet?
Christianity is a lifestyle based on community and personal contact. We must therefore consider how to adapt our lifestyle to maintain interaction within the framework of the government advice. This means no church-run groups that involve physical contact and close proximity.
Home groups and Sunday celebrations
We will no longer meet together in one location for small groups and Sunday celebrations. Instead we will use social media technology to interact with each other. Details of how to connect as part of Jubilee Church gatherings will be sent out via the website and email lists. Please make sure that you are registered with the Jubilee website and that you are on the email list – if you’re not sure then please use the form at the bottom of the page to get in touch with the office team.
Pod, children’s and youth ministry
We are working on provision of weekly packs for the Jubilee children and will let you know how to access them. We will make announcement about Habitation provision soon.
Other ministries
We will look at each Jubilee ministry and seek to develop a way of working within the restrictions of the government strategy. If you have any good suggestions or ideas let us know.
There are a small number of people who do not have access to computers or tablets, etc. We will support them and make provision to prevent isolation of anyone.
Stay in contact
The most important thing is that no one ends up on their own or forgotten.
- Let someone know if you are in need
- Many are facing financial hardship, others are feeling very anxious – do not suffer in silence
- Make every effort to phone and message those vulnerable or who are in self-isolation
- Keep in regular contact with friends and home group members with encouragements and positive discussion
- Keep up your regular times with God in prayer and reading the Bible
- Use extra spare time wisely – read good books, go for walks, use your creativity
- Pray that Jesus brings new life from this unprecedented situation
- Look for ways to serve and bless your neighbours
This is a global situation never before faced by our generation. Let us approach each day with faith and creativity, acting responsibly.
Connect with Jubilee
In these difficult times, we hope to maintain genuine human connection even if it’s through the Internet or over the phone. If you’re part of the Jubilee family in Maidstone please stay in touch with your friends and your Home Group members and leaders. If you’re new to Maidstone, new to Jubilee or just need to reconnect, we would love to hear from you. Pick up the phone or send a text to any Jubilee member, or use the contact form at the bottom of the page to get in touch with the office team.
Over the coming days we will be working on new ways to stay in touch as a church family and to meet together in worship via social media.
Prayer and Support
As a church family we will be praying for our nation and the nations of the world, for political and scientific leaders as they make difficult decisions, for healthcare staff and other public servants, and for those most badly affected by this disease. If you are in need of personal prayer, please call the church office or use the form at the bottom of this page to share confidentially. We will be looking at better ways to use social media in this way over the coming days.
As part of the wider church in Maidstone we will be considering how we can best serve the community together and offer support to those who are isolated or in need. If you are part of the Jubilee family then please speak to your Homegroup leaders if you need practical support. If you do not have anyone else to speak to then please call the church office or use the contact form below.
